Lucy Locket is a British company with a European wide reputation for quality children’s costumes. Lucy Locket’s designs are distinctive, easily identified with Lucy Locket’s core beliefs and found throughout quality department stores and independent retailers. In Holland, this includes De Bijenkorf. In other countries, there’s Galeries Lafayette, Harrods, El Corte Ingles and so on.
In the UK, Lucy Locket has established its reputation for protecting its intellectual property vigorously, having settled cases with The Disney Store and Marks and Spencer a few years ago.
Lucy Locket came to De Gier Stam when it was the turn in 2005 for Dutch importers and retailers to sell garments that were remarkably similar to Lucy Locket’s original designs. After protracted battles (read here, here, here, here and here, in Dutch) the sale of the infringing dresses was forbidden by the Dutch court(s).
The lawyers on these cases were Evert van Gelderen and Michael Gerrits.
